Helsby RC Blog – 20th March 2025

Welcome to the latest Helsby results roundup. Plenty to update on since the last edition…………

Borders League – Capenhurst

Sunday saw Helsby Men took a giant step towards winning the Borders League with a huge victory on the day at Capenhurst. We had Conor Sarsfield in 2nd place overall breaking the club 5 mile record with 25:01, backed up by Peter Taylor-Bray and Rhys Bowden also in the top 10 and all 10 of our counters home in the top 40.

It means we take a lead of 399 points into the final fixture at Buckley, knowing that 453 points or less will guarantee us our first Borders League title in 24 years!

Helsby Women also performed well, given several key absentees, scoring 303 points on the day. The chance of a womens’ league title has probably gone unfortunately, with Deeside stretching away into a commanding lead, but it’s still been an excellent season overall for the women, who still have a great chance to claim 2nd spot going into the final fixture.

Couch to 5k Graduation

We had a big group of couch to 5k runners graduating at Delamere Parkrun last Saturday. Thanks to all who helped with the C25k programme (we couldn’t run it without the volunteers) and we’re looking forward to seeing the graduates’ continued involvement with our club.

Volunteers for Sandstone Trail Race

A reminder that we need volunteers for our Sandstone Trail challenge race on Sunday 11th May. We work really hard at this every year but we cannot do it without your support and time, so if you can spare even a bit of time on the Sunday, please reach out to Dave Feakes at davidfeakes1234@btinternet.com
