We have three regular training sessions – Monday and Wednesday evenings, and early Friday morning (more ad hoc).
Our Wednesday run is our main training night with a bigger turnout. These start between 6:00pm and 6:30pm from the Helsby Community Sports Club, Callender Way, Helsby, WA6 0FX (unless otherwise notified). We suggest that you contact us via our Contact Us page or our FaceBook group beforehand to allow us to tell you the start time for the appropriate group for you. Please arrive a few minutes early to allow a prompt start.
In summer, our Wednesday activities include on and off-road training runs around Helsby and Frodsham hills which allows us to enjoy the fantastic local trails and mid-week races in Cheshire and North Wales. The training runs vary in length up to 9 or 10 miles, but we divide into groups of varying paces and distances allowing people to pick their run depending on their individual needs on that day.
During winter we again organise ourselves into different pace groups but are normally restricted to the roads, apart from a few hardy souls who take head torches onto the trails. To introduce some variety during the darker evenings we have introduced group runs in Delamere Forest, guess your time competitions, handicap competitions and urban orienteering.
Through the winter, on the last Wednesday of the month, we organise a 10km time trial to allow members to test their pace.
On a Monday evening, our team of coaches deliver inclusive sessions for all abilities. Whether you are new to running or a sub 6 min/miler our sessions are time-based and focus on improving your running and fitness. The sessions take place in a variety of locations including:

- Helsby High School, WA6 0HY
- Helsby Parish Field, WA6 0BU (park on Lower Robin Hood Lane)
- Helsby Quarry, WA6 9PT (park at top car park)
- Top field of Castle Park, Frodsham, WA6 6DG (park on Netherton Drive)
Monday evening sessions start at 6:30pm. Please arrive a few minutes early to allow a prompt start. If you’re new, let someone know so we can keep an eye on you.
During 2021, the first Monday training session of each month will be at the running track at Ellesmere Port Sports Village, Stanney Ln, Ellesmere Port CH65 9LB
Friday early mornings
Friday Fun Club is every Friday morning, 6am sharp providing an option for those who can’t make our evening training sessions or for those who just want to run a bit more. The runs vary from 5-6 mile social plods if we are racing at the weekend, to hill repeats through the firs, hilly canals, a trapezium or the devilish 666 session. Lots of mustering is done and nobody gets left behind. We have some 6 min/milers to 11 min/milers, everyone is welcome. Fun really is the aim of the game with these sessions.

Couch to 5k
