A wet and windy 18th August saw us host our inaugural Helsby Track Night at Ellesmere Port Sports Village and safe to say it was a huge success!
7 races took place (including the kids race) across the evening where we were supported by a brilliant team of track officials organised by our very own Tim Palmer with some fantastic racing throughout the night.
It would take far too long to mention all the superb performances on the night as everyone had a brilliant run, getting into the spirit of the event but, notable mentions do have to go to the mini-Larkins (Joseph and Charlie) who took victories in all 3 of the races they competed in (We’ve got the club memberships ready for when they can race the borders league!) and to John Whitehead who set the club record for the mile whilst pushing a loaded pram! Special mentions to Chris Green, Joey Kelly, Helen Harrington, Ross McNair, Chris Dodd, Kathryn Schofield and Matt Larkin who took part in both relays and a mile race.
Results from the night are below and there are some fantastic photos taken by Tony Schofield from the night so make sure you look out for yourself on there! (Helsby Running Club | Helsby track night. | Facebook)
A big thank you from myself to all that took part and all that came to support the runners. We’re already looking to run the event again next summer, making it bigger and better but, keeping that exclusive and friendly feel to it.
