Results and records

These are the current record times for completing the Sandstone Trail in its present form, ie between Sherry Mill Hill, Whitchurch and either the Bear’s Paw or Frodsham Community Centre in Frodsham. The Bear’s Paw is the official end point of the Trail, and the Community Centre is the end point for the Sandstone Trail Challenge event. The difference in route and distance is tiny, so we felt it was reasonable to treat them as the same. Anyone bettering these times outside the STC events needs to let us know, so we can update this page.

Previous completions

A few of the people we know have already run the Sandstone Trail in its current form under 7 hours:

Chris Marshall - 5:44 - Ellesmere Port RC - (12/01/2008)
John Rowlands - 7:00 approx - South Cheshire Harriers (06/06/2010)
Chris Baynham-Hughes - 5:29 - Helsby RC (24/07/2010)
Chris Vardy - 6:12 - Norfolk OC (14/08/2010)
Gaz – 6:30 – FRA Forum (27/10/2010) starting from Whitchurch station, so he did an extra bit
Ian Landucci - 5:37 - Helsby RC (9/04/2011)
Jeff McQueen - 5:19 - West Cheshire (28/04/2011)
Dave Douglas - 5:19 - Delamere Spartans (28/04/2011)

Note: The Challenges in 2006 and before were over a slightly shorter course, so times are not directly comparable. Mario Foschi's 1994 superb record of 4:07 for the old fire service race route, would have given him a time of around 4:20 for the current Trail.
