Hi all

According to feedback from other runners this was an improved and longer than advertised, two lap course, although still fairly flat and in good xc running conditions on the day. Distance was roughly 5.3 miles.

Helsby ladies continue to show their class and XC quality, confidently striding to an impressive two point victory in the team event on the day. Still improving brilliantly is Jayne Joy. It should be noted that this is her first season at the cross country and from her first race coming 17th ran a composed and clever race to out sprint one of the top performing women in this league to finish 2nd lady.

All Helsby ladies finished in the top half of the field so shows the strength in depth we have at the club and we should congratulate and be impressed by all the performances.

Disappointingly we only had two male finishers in this race but thanks to everyone who turned up to race or to their much needed and grateful support. As usual Joe and Mario were in fine voice supporting and thanks also to Jane Ashbrook and Andy Smith supporting on the last lap too.

There is a great atmosphere at these particular XC events, not to mention the free refreshments available afterwards so if you want to be part of it there is still the final race of the season to look forward too or try. There is still a little debate about the date for this but information will be sent out as soon as it is available.
