Hi All.
Don’t forget to send any race reports into helsbyracereports@gmail.com so that they can be included in our club blog. There hasn’t been much in the inbox recently. Any race reports sent to the inbox help keep the club’s public profile up to date as they will be posted on the club website.
Clwydian Hills Fell Race – Sunday 12th November 2023
The Clywdian Hills was our last fell counter of the year on Sunday. We had six Helsby runners in the race on what was a very wet and windy day. The Clwydian race can be a challenging category A race of 8 to 9 miles (depending on route choice!). The race starts and finishes in Cilcain with a tough climb up the infamous ‘gully’ to Moel Famau at around the 7 mile point. It was great to see a few Helsby members doing the race this year who don’t usually do a lot of fell races. Adam Gordon had a great run finishing in 10th place, followed by Kevin Smith, Andy Brookshaw, Ben Tumilty, Nick Ryder and Jim Jones.
I didn’t think conditions were conducive to taking photos but Adam managed to take a few and still finish in 10th place! Full race result are available HERE.
Penmaenmawr Fell Race – Saturday 18th November
If anyone who’s appetite was whet for fell racing by the Clywdian Fell race on Sunday, there is another classic race in Penmaenmawr on Saturday. Online entries are still open at Fabian4. I’ve done this race a couple of time before so if you have any questions give me a shout.
That’s it for this week. Don’t forget to send any race reports in from other disciplines – unless of course you are happy to just hear about fell racing every week.
Cheers,
Jim
